Making Innovation Happen - The Medici Effect

I recently read an excellent book on innovation - The Medici Effect by Frans Johansson. The central thesis of the book is that innovation happens at intersection where different fields, culture or discipline meet. Because at such an intersection,  existing concept can be combined to give birth to large number of ideas - the phonomenon that the author calls Medici Effect. This could happen when team with people from different backgrounds collaborate or a person involved in multiple fields combine concepts from different fields. Such intersectional innovation pave the way for completely new field giving rise to world changing ideas.

The book explains the intersection, ways to create the medici effect and methods to make intersectional ideas happen. It is an easy and interesting read. What more the book is available for download here. Also the author's blogs at the site are very interesting.
